FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Pike County community invited to explore a new sightseeing app WanderWay turns a local idea into an iPhone app for discovering places along a drive PIKE COUNTY, OHIO — Pike County residents and visitors are invited to download WanderWay, an independent iPhone app inspired by an idea from local resident Jordan Boyer: a way to learn about the interesting places people normally drive right past. WanderWay helps users discover historic sites, parks, museums, scenic overlooks, covered bridges, and other attractions nearby or along a driving route. Users can build a multi-stop trip or generate a Sunday drive loop around the time they have available, with duration choices from 30 minutes to three hours. For a community with outdoor destinations such as Pike Lake State Park, Lake White State Park, and Pike State Forest, alongside historic places in Waverly and Piketon, the idea is to make discovery part of the journey. Local knowledge remains especially valuable: residents can help explore their community and discover places that deserve a closer look. The app includes visual and spoken turn-by-turn directions, CarPlay support, category preferences, a search radius of up to 40 miles, saved trips, and favorite places. Users can also press and hold anywhere on the iPhone map to drop a pin and list sights around that spot instead of their current location, or get directions to it. A drive-by option selects roadside sightseeing categories, although visibility and access vary by place. Photos, descriptions, and visitor details are available where supported by the underlying sources. WanderWay is available now on the App Store. It requires an iPhone running iOS 26 or later. It is available as a one-time purchase, with no ads, subscriptions, or sale of personal data. Residents, tourism professionals, and local history enthusiasts are invited to download the app for their next outing. Included simulator screenshots show app features in and around Pike County—including regional searches (30-mile radius), category filtering across all 16 categories, covered bridges, prehistoric earthworks (Piketon Mounds), National Register historic sites, area museums, parks, and Sunday drive planning controls.
